how im using roam research as my zettelkasten, to pull up my ingredients to make zettels

the coolest thing about roam, is how im responding to my blocks, as if they were tweets or instant messages. simulating threads of thoughts and conversations

at the moment, im using notion to gather my ingredients for my zettel sandwich

👆🏼in notion page, click view all comments window to see my reference notes

👆🏼comments in notion are interactive, by clicking highlighted underline or speech comment icon to see thread of comments or reference notes i’ve written. then there are options to add more comments directly

once im ready, i pull up my reference notes and just copy and paste to roam research where my zettelkasten lives

what im taking are my interpretation and the source link

these two elements will give me context to why i took the reference and then be able to source back to dig deeper into the topic

im still learning to write like this. so the source link, authors’ name handles, and the and the title names of book or articles is just i need for quick citations

where i then wrangle by asking whether the note can support, refute, challenge, or color with other interest to build connections

it's neat to be able to think that these block as tweets

the spaces under parent/sibling blocks, is where other roam blocks jump in and play

Not all reference notes are going to be zettels and each zettels will have a different flavour depending on the reference note and how you’ll be able to connect or link with other zettels

a note i took to practice and guide me on how to build a zettel. from Building a Zettelkasten class for creative expression by Bob Doto (@thehighpony)
